Themed bracelets
tend to be the most common, but how can you spruce
up a bracelet with more than just the standard
charms.
Laser Charms
Sometimes there just is not a charm to express
how you feel. Laser charms can help you do just
by putting your custom message on to a link. Many
online retailers offer custom laser links for about
$12 to $15. Just remember, the more you write on
your charm, the smaller the print becomes. The
smaller the print becomes, the harder it is to
read. It is important to keep in mind that these
charms are not very big and can only hold a relatively
small amount of content on them. You can always
put your words or pictures on multiple links and
them “link” them together.
Choosing a font can be tricky. The most beautiful fonts on paper do not always
look the best when engraved into steel. Sometimes the more practical fonts
work better because of their legibility. If you try to engrave a laser charm
with a character or symbol make sure there is a lot of room. Small details
tend to get lost in the engraving.
Photo Charms
Photo charms are another great way to enhance
your link bracelet. Instead of just putting your
children’s name and birthstone, you can include
an actual picture of the darling. Why use a generic
dog charm if you can put an actual picture of spot
on the link. You just have to remember that you
are scaling a picture down…A LOT! Therefore,
close up pictures work the best. If you are sending
in a photograph, try to fit one person, at most
two, on one charm.
Other Ideas:
- Mix some dangle links into your bracelet to
give it a more dynamic appearance.
- Utilize stones to give bracelets a more colorful
and upscale look.
- Experiment with different base bracelets:
polished, matte, trimmed. Starter bracelets are
inexpensive
and different styles work better with different
charms.
